ОСАГО — обязательное страхование гражданской ответственности владельцев транспортных средств. С 1 июля 2003 года каждый водитель обязан иметь при себе полис ОСАГО. Полис гарантирует возмещение ущерба пострадавшим в ДТП. Максимальная сумма возмещения ущерба имуществу — 400 000 рублей, здоровью — 500 000 рублей (при смерти пострадавшего).

Для выбора страховой компании удобно использовать онлайн-калькулятор ОСАГО или произвести расчёт в офисе страховой компании. Полис ОСАГО можно оформить онлайн или в страховой компании.

Если не оформить ОСАГО или просрочить его, можно получить штраф. Размер штрафа зависит от нарушения. Если полис ОСАГО оформлен, но его нет на руках у водителя или у инспектора ГИБДД, штраф составит 500 рублей.

За поддельный полис ОСАГО предусмотрена административная или уголовная ответственность.

В Госдуме обсуждается увеличение штрафа за езду без ОСАГО до 5000 рублей, чтобы сделать вождение без страховки невыгодным.

Распечатывать электронный полис ОСАГО не обязательно, достаточно скачать его на телефон. Но инспектор ГИБДД может проверить данные ОСАГО через информационную базу МВД РФ, поэтому лучше всё-таки распечатать полис.
